The all-volunteer Chancel Choir provides worship leadership through music for the 10:30 AM Sunday worship service. In addition, this choir prepares a special musical presentation for the Christmas season, and participates in various other special worship services throughout the year. The Chancel Choir is led by Buckley Walker, our Director of Music Ministries. Our piano accompanist is Debbie Jetton, and Kenneth Crooks, is our church organist. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:15p.m.
The handbell ministry provides a way to express musically and spiritually our faith in God, as we literally lift our instrument to Him. The handbell choir both is under the direction of Debbie Jetton. The handbell choir plays throughout the year at the 10:30 worship service. Rehearsals are Wednesday afternoons 4:45pm – 5:30pm.
We know how important it is to guide and steer our children because we know that they are indeed tomorrow’s church. Children’s Music here at First United Methodist Church is a big part of that as we work to instill musical and spiritual foundation. One cannot help but be filled with joy each time they hear the sweet angel voices of our Children’s Choirs. Children’s choir rehearsals are part of our Wednesday evening children’s activities. The children perform many times in throughout the year. Kathy O’Nan is our wonderful children’s choir director.
